#To💯Healthy: Will You Grow Old with Vitality or Disease? It’s Time to Decide
Dec 01, 2024The launch of the first #To💯Healthy podcast was meant to feature the extraordinary Eileen Stella Kramer. Sadly, Eileen has taken her final bow and set off on her next great adventure, leaving this world peacefully just two days after her 110th birthday on November 15, 2024. In honor of her remarkable life and enduring legacy, this newsletter is dedicated to her and all longevity seekers. May her story serve as a powerful reminder for us all to live with purpose, creativity, and vitality.
Eileen—artist, dancer, choreographer, and writer—died peacefully after a life that can only be described as extraordinary. She returned to Australia at 99 and continued to create, inspire, and perform work until her very last days. She was a true trailblazer, a creative force, and the last dancer of the Bodenwieser era. She was also one of the longest living women in NSW, and likely the longest living dancer in the world. But Eileen wasn’t just long-lived; she was fully alive. She lived every moment with purpose, passion, and vitality. If ever there was a life that demonstrated what it means to age well, it was hers.
Tonight, I invite you to look to the sky, find the brightest star, raise a glass, and cheer her on. Eileen’s legacy is a powerful reminder that the way we age is not just about years—it’s about how we live them.
The Choice We All Face
Eileen’s life offers us a question: Will we grow old with vitality, purpose, and energy—or will we drift into disease and decline?
The decisions you make today—what you eat, how you move, how you care for your mind, body, and spirit—will determine which path you take. And the best part? It’s never too late to change direction. Whether you’re 25 or 75, you have the power to shape your future.
But here’s the truth: the clock is ticking. Every year of inaction narrows the window for meaningful change. If you want to live a life filled with vitality—if you want to honor the incredible example set by people like Eileen—then now is the best time to act.
What Eileen’s Life Teaches Us About Longevity
Eileen lived her life with passion, movement, and connection. These are also the principles supported by longevity science. Let me break it into actionable insights by her remarkable journey.
-
Movement Is Medicine: Eileen danced every day. Movement keeps your body strong, your mind sharp, and your spirit free. It doesn’t matter if it’s dancing, walking, or yoga—just keep moving.
-
Stay Curious and Creative: Eileen’s art and choreography weren’t just hobbies; they were her lifeblood. Creativity keeps you connected to your passions and engaged with the world.
-
Build a Community: Eileen was never married and had no children, yet she lives a life rich in depth and connection. Her story shows us that meaningful relationships don’t have to follow traditional paths—they can be built through the communities and bonds we create.
-
Find Your Purpose: Eileen woke up every day with a reason to create, to share, to live. Purpose is one of the most powerful drivers of longevity.
These aren’t just ideas—they’re habits. They’re choices. And they’re entirely within your reach.
The Time to Act Is Now
Eileen is resting in peace, but her spirit reminds us to live with intention. To care for our bodies, expand our minds, and fill our lives with meaning.
You don’t need to overhaul your life overnight. Start small. Choose one thing—an extra walk in your day, a new creative outlet, or a meal made from whole, unprocessed foods—and commit to it. From there, let momentum carry you forward.
Raise a Glass, and Take a Step Forward
As we celebrate Eileen Kramer’s incredible legacy, let’s also take her life as a call to action. Aging well isn’t about luck or genetics—it’s about the choices we make every day.
